When the car is running, the car generator and related circuits will automatically charge the battery. For frequently used cars, the battery can be fully charged during the driving process, and there is no need to supplement the battery.

Many private cars use low frequency, or often drive short distances, and the battery power cannot be replenished in time and in sufficient quantities, causing the car battery to be in a state of insufficient power for a long time. In severe cases, there will be power loss such as failure to start. If the car battery is not recharged in time, the car battery will soon be scrapped.

Therefore, it is recommended that friends with an annual mileage of less than 10,000 kilometers should be equipped with a car battery charger to recharge the car battery every 1-2 months or if the battery voltage is too low, recharge it in time.

Be careful when using a car battery charger to charge your car’s battery, because improper operation may damage the battery or even the car’s circuit and cause greater losses. Pay attention to the following points when charging:

1. Choose a charger that matches your car battery

The batteries used in current family cars are generally maintenance-free lead-acid batteries with a rated voltage of 12V. When buying a car battery charger, you must understand the battery type of your car to choose a suitable battery charger. At the same time, it is best to choose a smart charger, which automatically adjusts the voltage and current, which is more conducive to protecting the battery.

2. It is recommended to remove the battery and charge it in a well-ventilated room

The battery of a family car is easy to disassemble, and the owner can do it by himself. After turning off all electrical appliances in the vehicle, lock all windows and doors. Open the hood and use a small wrench to loosen the screw on the negative pole of the battery to remove the negative wire from the negative pole of the battery. Use the same method to remove the positive connection of the battery. Note that first remove the negative connection, and then remove the positive connection.

When moving the battery, handle it gently, keep the positive and negative poles of the battery facing up, and do not turn the battery upside down.

When connecting the battery, be sure to pay attention to the correspondence between the positive and negative terminals and the battery pile head, with the positive pole to the positive pole and the negative pole to the negative pole.

The one marked with a plus sign “+” is the positive electrode, and the one marked with a plus sign “-” is the negative electrode. Use the red alligator clip to clamp the positive terminal of the battery, and use the black alligator clip to clamp the negative terminal of the battery.

After connecting the alligator clip with the positive and negative poles of the battery, insert the charger plug into the mains socket.

For chargers without reverse connection protection, the reverse connection will cause damage to the charger and battery. It is recommended to buy an anti-reverse car battery charger.

3. It is recommended to be supervised while charging

It is recommended to charge the car battery during the day. The car owner or the car owner entrusts someone to check it every 30 minutes to an hour, and touch the battery casing, whether the charger is overheated, and whether there is any peculiar smell during the charging process. If there is any abnormality, stop charging immediately. Fireworks are strictly prohibited during operation.

The charger panel will display the working status of the charger: the power light is on, the charging voltage light is on, the charging mode light is on, and so on. This indicates that the charger is beginning to charge the battery.

After the battery is fully charged, turn off the power first, and the power indicator of the charger goes out. Then remove the charger clip. Charging is over.
